Understanding important changes over time at a glance
Metric Trends on the Pulse Page highlight the insights with the largest recent change, to highlight where focus is needed, and where efforts to improve are showing the biggest impact.
It's important to understand not just your current metrics, but how these compare to the past.
The Pulse page provide this story at a glance by showing both the recent and previous values.
Key elements:
- The current value for each insight from the most recent 12 weeks (or other selected time frame)
- Ex, the available dev time over the most recent 12 weeks was 73%.
- Ex, the available dev time over the most recent 12 weeks was 73%.
- The value from the previous period, that spans the same amount of time.
- Ex, the available dev time over the 12 weeks prior to that was 70%
- Ex, the available dev time over the 12 weeks prior to that was 70%
- The relative change from the previous to current period.
- Ex, This an increase of 4.5%

- The industry benchmark
- When available, an industry benchmark range is provided, based on the 25th - 75th percentile across teams.
- For ex this recent 12 weeks value of 73% is within the industry benchmark range of 66% - 74%, and so this is shown as Typical.
- This benchmark range appears a shaded area on the chart.
- Color coding
- For metrics where higher values are considered better, values above the benchmark or target are considered successful and appear in green. For metrics where lower values are considered better, values below the benchmark or target appear in green.

- The target value
- If your organization has set a specific target value that you are aiming for, that target is used in place of the benchmark value.
- Customization
- Metric Trends highlight the insights with the largest recent change. Use the Options menu to pin any insight so it always appears.
- When Include Dynamic Insights is enabled, the top 4 largest changing insights will always be shown. Turn this off in order to only show the pinned insights.
